the 2nd one (bluey) came out much smoother and cleaner.

so i made a little ring with the red flower.

i love that the red came out rough and uneven.

the "flower" wobbles a little on the head pin but i kind of dig it like that.

The band is thin but it overlaps.

I drilled through the overlapping bits, put the head pin through it and then soldered the head pin inside the ring so it's secure... it's just a tiny bit tippy and bobbly when I move my hand.

we all need a hug sometimes.

Like rare shots of Big Foot and the Loch Nest Monster, the REAL Easter Bunny is difficult to capture on film during his annual holiday excursion.
Luckily I managed a quick snapshot of him at work.

Here is a never before seen video of the clever rabbit (location undisclosed) executing his stealthy, top speed distribution of colored eggs and other goodies.

Exhausted from his work, our holiday hero is resting from the days labor.

Again we have caught him unawares and in the company of his secret but dedicated companion, Humpty Bear.

Please respect the privacy deserved of their obvious attachment to one another.

Here's the newest ripple blanket that I started last spring and took back up working on when I was visiting Arkansas.

I can totally zone out on a ripple blanket when I'm flying on an airplane... reading or knitting requires too much attention to detail but I have the crochet ripple pattern memorized at this point.

Grandma already called dibs on this blanket by telling me in a casual way that the colors were pretty (they matched her living room like I'd done it on purpose!) and that if I tossed it over her lap she thought it would probably keep her feet pretty warm. ;)

Grandma is secret agent smooth when it comes to hinting.

On Sunday my Grandma Bonnie and her daughter Cathy came down from Oklahoma for a few hours to visit me at Grandma Buckley's house. Thank you again, Cathy!

Grandma's bedroom... once upon a time it seemed so fancy and gigantic but it is actually such a tiny box I had to stand in two places to get a photo of the whole room! Oh and I'm pretty sure my Grandma made that quilt!

When I was very little and had sleep overs with Grandma I got to sleep in the "big bed" with her and she would read the Bible to me until one of us fell asleep. Usually she'd go out first... mid sentence. Her sweet, whispery voice would just trail off and she would nod off to sleep holding her well worn Bible against her chest.

childhood kitchen cabinet of fascination... holds recycled Coolwhip containers, used butter tubs, saved aluminum pie tins, and hand-washed zip lock bags all to be re-used as "tupperware". Nothing is wasted in this house.

A tiny Dresser made by my Great Grandfather.

Please notice my Grandma's Razorback souvenirs. She LOVES watching Razorback Basketball. She calls the team "our boys" and always tells me how they are doing when I call.

This was painted by my Grandma. I would cut off a finger to have this and the painting below... they have eternally hung above Grandma's couch and I am always so enchanted by them both.

A folktale by The Brothers Grimm ...

In the story a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster, decide to go to Bremen to live without owners and become musicians there.

On the way to Bremen, they see a lighted cottage; they look inside and see four robbers enjoying their ill-gotten gains. Standing on each others backs, they decide to perform for the men in hope of gaining food. Their 'music' has an unanticipated effect; the men run for their lives, not knowing what the strange sound is. The animals take possession of the house, eat a good meal, and settle in for the evening.

Later that night, the robbers return and send one of their members in to investigate. It is dark and he sees the eyes of the Cat shining in the darkness. He reaches over to light his candle, thinking he sees the coals of the fire. Things happen in quick succession; the Cat swipes his face with her claws, the Dog bites him on the leg, the Donkey kicks him and the Rooster crows and chases him out the door, screaming. He tells his companions that he was beset by a horrible witch who scratched him with her long fingers (the Cat), an ogre with a knife (the Dog), a giant who had hit him with his club (the Donkey), and worst of all, the dragon who screamed in his voice from the rooftop (the Rooster). The robbers abandon the cottage to the strange creatures who have taken it, where the animals live happily for the rest of their days.

I remember this story vividly from my childhood... I can't say that it was one of my favorites but it made a life long impression on me which I believe was the intended effect of most of the stories produced by the Grimm Brothers!

Saturday was very unkind to me... I hope you all fared better on such a fair-weathered day. I am hoping Sunday is a much gentler day for me. :)

Above are some of my most cherished "tchotchkes". The bunny bust is a trade I made with the very talented Julie Whitmore. I am sure you have seen me post her things here before. I have been lucky enough to become interweb friends with Julie over the course of time and her talents fascinate and delight me constantly.

The darling little pin cushion chairs were a gift from my dear friend Katie Runnels of The Constant Gatherer. Katie and I have known each other since before I had but only a few gray hairs, and she has been a great friend and inspiration for me as I have tried to develop myself creatively over the years.

I am lucky to know both these ladies.

I know that everyone and their sister blogged this little cottage but it is truly ideal to me in almost every way. It's somewhat remote, has a lot of country white which reminds me of my sweet, southern childhood...

and even though it's a little froofy and frilly for my taste, all the chipped paint antiques, the corner shelf stuffed to the ceiling with books, and the big squishy loft bed make up for it.

Diem Chau calls her blog The Pleasure of Tiny Things and that is the whole truth of the matter!

below is a commissioned piece that Chau recently did of Mrs McDougall the Vet and these figures are carved out of (yes, you guessed it) Crayons. Even the story behind the commission is very sweet.

I wish I had the words to describe how these tiny carved figures ... I can't even come up with the words ... move me? inspire me? make me gape in awe?

They are so SOMETHING that all I can say is that I get a tickled feeling in the soft, squishy area at the lower, back half of my head when I try to imagine what Diem Chau sees inside her thoughts that brought these little crayon sculptures into being.

I bet Mrs. McDougall loved her graduation gift.
